Perhaps William Shakespeare's first play, The Two Gentlemen of Verona was selected for the first year production in Mary Baldwin College and The American Shakespeare Center's partner graduate program in Shakespeare and Performance in 2011. Two casts worked on the play under two different directors.
As Matt Davies' assistant director and stage manager, my duties ran the gamut, from basics of keeping time and managing calls, to working with the casts (as they were available) for extra rehearsal time. Specifically, Matt asked me to keep an open ear on the cast's use of verse to make sure that they were honoring Shakespeare's line and using that for their performance choices.
